The gain of Sacrifice Queen by the loss of “Office of Profit”
I don’t think I ll be wrong if I crown the “Bahu’ of India’s biggest and oldest political family, the Gandhi’s, Sonia, undoubtedly, as the sacrifice Queen!
Well seeing her past record, she is improvising and with style. It was hard for me to absorb the term “Office of Profit” as technically all the politicians of the greatest democracy are driven by their personal “profit motives” only. So from where does the question arise of only a handful people in the Rajya Sabha bearers of the “Office of Profit”? And yes, the par excellence Indian media who recognised her true sacrifice yet again and gave her 100 per cent airtime, full marks to them.
Now getting back from the modesty extravaganza. I have a few questions in my mind. Lets take a hypothetical situation of a workplace. Ok, lets assume, I, applied for a job with fake resume and certificates. I got the job. After sometime I apprehend that my employer has realised from his sources that I have faked my certificates. Now before he throws me out don’t you people think I ll be wise enough to resign?
Now would you call that action “Saving my face”? (Which I don’t think I ll manage!) Or a “Sacrifice”? I m not saying Sonia Gandhi faked her credentials to gain the Rajya Sabha seat. But, that if she wasn’t eligible for the seat then why did she resign after the intervention of Election Commission? I assume that she knew her status and the status of her holding the “Office of Profit”. Isn’t it just another political gimmick by Mrs Gandhi to portray herself as the follower of the truth and guided by the principles laid down by the Gandhis?
Ok I believe her, she resigned, better late than never. Then why do the Congress and the media have to dub the act as a sacrifice? Even Hajmola didn’t help me in digesting this fact. I mean, if I am not “eligible” for a post I have to step down. It’s a requirement and not a favour.
